Re Opening of the Club Site

27/03/2021

Following the Government guidelines for the easing of the current “Lock Down” It is with great pleasure that I can confirm that from Monday 29th March, the site can re open to members and we can take to the sky again!!!

Obviously there are still restrictions in place and due care and diligence must be adhered to, and social distancing rules still apply.

During “Lock down” Keith Turnecliff kindly stepped forward and has taken on the role as our new club Treasurer, and we all welcome Keith to the committee and wish him every success in his new role. Keith has hit the runway at full throttle, and has already created a new club website for the members, and very impressive it is too, so please all take a look, and use the site regularly to keep yourselves up to date with what is going on behind the scenes, and keep track of up coming events. The website also carries the club track and track facility, for members to use before visiting the club field. It is very user friendly and the club is required to provide this facility as part of our covid compliance procedures, so please use this facility.

Since we were all last able to use the club, some changes have been introduced in the form of the Article 16 legislation, which became law at the beginning of January 2021, as I am sure you are all aware. To operate legally within this new legislation, you should all have now “logged” into the Bmfa portal, and accessed your personal records, and “ticked” that you have read and understood Article 16. If you have not done this yet could you please do so as a matter of urgency. We are also required to have registered for an Operator ID, and have received our individual ID number, which you are required to carry on all of you aircraft.

If you have not done this yet, you can register through the Bmfa website and you will receive your licence identification numbers directly via email. It is not the club’s responsibility to ensure that the members have complied with this ruling, but please beware that failure to do so could leave you open to prosecution.

Anyway here’s to happier days to come, and hopefully some great flying weather too! I hope you all enjoy our freedom to fly again, and let us all look forward to the lighter nights and a fabulous summer ahead of us.

Take care and please use common sense at the club in the months ahead.
